The Power and Control Wheel

by The Domestic Violence Intervention Project

Duluth, MN

The Power and Control wheel shows us the variety of ways that perpetrators use power and control over victim’s lives to maintain the threat of violence. Survivors can use the wheel to understand the many ways that domestic violence has effected them, and to help them identify what abusive behavior is. We can also use the wheel to help us understand why it can be so difficult to leave an abusive relationship.

If you are worried you may be in an abusive relationship, reach out to a domestic violence hotline for support.
